Meet Dr. Loretta

Welcome!

Hi!  It is my pleasure to welcome you to my site, drloretta.com.   Whether you are here because you have come in contact with me in some way, either by a friend’s recommendation, reading my book, seeing me on TV, I have had the privilege of having seen you personally as a patient,  or you simply found me surfing the internet, I want you to know that it is my intention to help you to use this site to educate you in the making right choices to achieve the skin appearance you desire!

After you have read through my site, should you have any questions you would like to direct to me, please feel free to write me at drloretta@drloretta.com.

Who I am and what I believe:

I have been a board certified dermatologist since 1982.  Before that, as early as 1975, I worked in a dermatology research laboratory at Harvard Medical School and was fortunate to have spent time with Dr. Fitzpatrick as he was developing what is still considered the gold-standard of skin typing among dermatologists, the Fitzpatrick Skin Type classification.  All of this education and experience led me to become the skincare expert/junky that I am!  I believe that the benefits of good skincare, practiced on a daily basis, can keep us looking clear skinned and younger in every decade of life!

I am the Director Emeritus of the Appearance Center for Cosmetic Dermatology as well as a Voluntary Professor of Dermatology at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine,  and past president of the Miami-Dade County Medical Association. Since 1993, I have formulated skincare for my own patients and acted as a consultant for other skincare lines. All the while, I have continued my private practice specializing in cosmetic dermatology.  I continue to lecture and teach physicians on cosmetic dermatology and skincare advances.  I am the recipient of the Physician Communicator of the Year award from the Florida Medical Association.

Born in Harlem, NY, I am a graduate of Hunter College of the City University of New York, Downstate Medical College of the State University of New York, and the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, where I was chosen as Chief Resident in Dermatology.

You may have seen me on Good Morning America, Rachel Ray/Human Lab segments, or Today in South Florida.  I also was the dermatologist chosen for the O You (Oprah event) in 2008, and my advise has been featured in quotes in O (Oprah), Shape, New Beauty, and Seventeen magazines.

My book, 6 Weeks to Sensational Skin, takes readers through a 6-week "boot camp" to improve the overall health and appearance of skin, and has been dubbed..."the ultimate girlfriend's guide to beauty."
